Mia Jessup is a writer and producer based in LA. She creates surreal, female-driven, dark comedies with physical humor and emotional depth.

In 2021, Mia's original comedy pilot was a semifinalist for the Sundance Episodic Lab and also placed at Austin Film Festival. Her directorial debut short, SUMMER IN THE CITY, premiered at The Gotham Project (formerly IFP) in a program supported by New York Women in Film and TV, and her other short films (which she wrote, produced and acted in) have screened at festivals like the Women in Comedy Festival presented by HBO, Toronto Sketchfest, Palm Springs Int’l Comedy Festival, Berlin Feminist Film Festival, Adirondack Film Festival, Chicago Comedy Film Festival, and Hollywood Comedy Shorts. Two of her shorts have also landed on Elizabeth Banks’ platform WhoHaha.

With a double major in Theater and Women’s Studies from Dartmouth College, her career began as a theater actor and quickly expanded into sketch, film and television. In addition to her short films, Mia's appeared on Comedy Central's "The President Show," "Billy on the Street" and national commercials. She also starred in MILA AND MIMI TOO which was chosen by Lionsgate, Imagine Entertainment, and director Susannah Fogel as the winner of the Women Rising Female Storytellers Contest. You might recognize her (and her hands) from numerous print ads or that one time she did a commercial with Snooki.*

Mia’s visual storytelling skills have led her to collaborate with other filmmakers on creating dynamic pitch decks. Her affinity for design and visual research, as well as her genuine love of the creative process, have helped other writers, directors and producers develop their projects and realize their vision.
